So finally the Dave Lee Travis’ trial is over and he has been found not guilty on all but one charge of sexual and indecent assault. For that one offence he has been handed down a three month suspended sentence for the act of groping a woman’s breasts 19 years ago. So now all the smoke has settled we can’t help but wonder was it worth more than two years of police and court time? Was it worth the devastation to Travis’ reputation and the ending of his career?
One of our favourite people, Thom Yorke of Radiohead fame, is at it again releasing his latest solo album via BitTorrent in what he describes as an attempt to bypass “the self-elected gatekeepers” of the music industry. The singer said he turned to the file-sharing system as “an experiment” for the release of Modern Boxes; which includes eight tracks and a video. It also comes seven years after Radiohead famously shook up the music industry by giving away their album In Rainbows as a “pay what you want” online release.
We have decided to make a few changes here at Jammy Toast. A couple of things have brought us to the decision, most noticeably the fact that we don’t have the time to donate to Jammy Toast that we used to – work commitments are taking their toll. Also, Jammy Toast is meant to be the home of the Renault Bears but it is slowly being over-run with other people and characters. With these two thoughts in mind, we have decided to act. Firstly, we will no longer be able to post something here every day but instead will post something when we have something to say. Secondly, we are going to streamline the content so that Jammy Toast is once more about and/or features the Renault Bears.
It is that time of the month again when we ask everyone who visits Jammy Toast to just “Talk Shit” for the day. We just ask that people leave comments on just about any subject they choose. Funny or sad, true or false, real or fake; we don’t give a shit as long as it is entertaining and doesn’t really hurt anyone. We usually do this kind of thing when we are too busy to post anything else – and everyone seems to like the freedom to whine and bitch. The rules are pretty simple to explain – basically, anything goes!
We have been accused in the past of making up some of the content here on Jammy Toast and we have always denied this heinous allegation. Today is no different! Today we have heard that a goldfish in Australia has just undergone brain surgery to remove a life-threatening tumour in what has been described as a “high-risk” procedure. George the goldfish, whose owner lives in Melbourne, was put under general anaesthetic for the £125 operation.
Icouldn’t think of anything to write about this month, so I thought I would just post a picture for me to drool over. Who could imagine it is four years since Cher appeared on X Factor although it’s also a shame that she spends so much of her time in America these days. She has become quite a big star over there, which is great is great for her, but there is still one little bear who still remembers her over here!
Tonight we bring you a brand new Saturday Night at The Movies here at Jammy Toast. Each week we show a movie through the Jammy Toast Cinema for all our friends. There is no longer a password required for the cinema so the films are now available to anyone who wishes to watch. If you highlight the Media menu above, then the Videos submenu and finally click on Bear Cinema you will gain entry to the Bear’s Cinema where you can view this week’s Movie of the Week. Please note; we have no control over how long this film will remain available before it is withdrawn, so please watch it as quickly as possible – it may no longer be available tomorrow.
Everyone here at Jammy Toast is devastated over the blaze that has so far killed 60 dogs at Manchester Dogs’ Home. How anyone could deliberately start a fire that could harm animals in this way is totally beyond our comprehension. Luckily, more than 150 dogs were rescued from the fire, which broke out at the dogs’ home in Harpurhey, Manchester last night. A JustGiving account set up by the Manchester Evening News has so far raised more than £750,000 to help the dogs. Firefighters said the 150 dogs rescued from the fire had been moved to Cheshire Dogs’ Home. Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
The plans to redevelop Liverpool’s Welsh Streets area are currently the subject of a public enquiry we have found out today. The redevelopment plans were called in by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles after years of indecision about the fate of the streets in the Dingle. We popped round again today and had a nose through the holes in some of the buildings only to discover a sorrowful sight. Behind the metal sheets covering the front doors, the hall walls have crumbled, exposing the wooden frames like a skeleton. The staircases have gone and there are pigeon feathers and faeces carpeting the floor. Paint is peeling away and a once-elegant tiled porch is green with moss in the grouting.
