You may remember Finn the Police Dog who we have featured previously on Jammy Toast after he was seriously injured defending his handler from a knife wielding burglar. Finn was nearly knifed to death saving his partner and is now to receive the animal George Cross – a PDSA Gold Medal. German shepherd Finn and PC Dave Wardell had cornered a robbery suspect when Finn was knifed twice with a 10in blade. PC Wardell said: “In a split second I saw the man lunge at Finn. As he pulled away I saw a 10in blade, covered in Finn’s blood. The man then lunged at me but Finn, despite being seriously hurt, grabbed hold of the suspect and stopped him landing a fatal blow. My hand was cut and Finn’s head sliced open. His grip remained, pulling at the suspect’s leg to stop him from escaping over a fence.”
Today we are going to ask everyone who visits Jammy Toast to just “Talk Shit” for the day. We ask that anyone who visits Jammy Toast leaves a comment on just about any subject they choose. Funny or sad, true or false, real or fake; we don’t give a shit as long as it is entertaining and doesn’t really hurt anyone. We ask you to do this because we are too busy to think of anything else to post – hopefully everyone will like the freedom to whine and bitch. The rules are pretty simple to explain – basically, anything goes!
Have you ever noticed how Asian people age so much better than westerners? As many of you who have been following Jammy Toast for any length of time will know, Chimpton was a Vietnamese Boat Child back in the 1970s when I rescued her from a boat on Birkenhead Docks. She went to school in England and mixed in really well with the English children. However, if you now fast forward a few years, every so often she will go out for an evening with her old school friends for a “catch-up”. Now when I say old school friends, I really do mean OLD school friends. I don’t know if any of you have ever seen the film Invasion of The Body Snatchers but all her school friends seem to have been “snatched” and replaced with older alien replacements.
It looks like 2018 is heading the same way as last year and the year before. Earlier this week we lost Doddy and now Stephen Hawking has shuffled off the mortal coil. The visionary physicist who tried his best to explain the universe to millions of ordinary people has died peacefully at his home age 76. Stephen was responsible for giving Jammy Toast the biggest headache when he published his book A Brief History Of Time. Each paragraph of the book was on a different subject from the Big Bang Theory to Black Holes In Space and we couldn’t understand any of them. Each chapter started off simply and then added more and more detail to the subject being covered – here at Jammy Toast we couldn’t get to the end of the first page of each chapter before becoming dumfounded.
Granny doesn’t very often use her “nouse” or common sense. However she surprised me the other day with just how much she had thought something through. She had seen an episode of Eight out of Ten Cats Does Countdown and was trying to tell me all about it. She said the man with the black hair and beard was on it and that he was very funny. I asked if she meant Nick Helm – we both love it when he sings love songs at Susie – but no that wasn’t him. It turned out she meant Joe Wilkinson who has brown hair and beard but never mind. She argued about the colour of his hair and beard and I wanted to search google for a picture of Joe, alas my phone was in the other room so I asked to borrow hers.
Everyone here at Jammy Toast was devastated last night to hear the news that Sir Ken Dodd had died. Although he had been unwell for a little while, it just seemed like he was indestructible and we kind of thought he would go on forever. I personally met the great man in Liverpool in the 1970s when he called into my Grandmother’s shop and he gave me his autograph which incorporated a Diddy Man. He was a lovely man and although deeply private never seemed to tire of public recognition and still lived in the house where he was born, he’d never lived anywhere else. It was quite fitting that his death was announced at around 1:15am as this was the kind of time he live shows would finish. What a great man. A true legend!
There is nothing we love more here at Jammy Toast than listening to some of our favourite tunes. From time to time we will post a music video from an artist or genre that we think will be enjoyable to you; our friends. We often feature music that you may not have come across before, or music that maybe you just missed the first time around. Try and listen with an open mind, you never know, you may find something you can add to your iPod. If you have any music videos you would like us to feature then drop us a line – we are always happy to listen to requests but we cannot promise to feature everyone’s favourite…
