Hello Toasters, I am George the bear who Mr Bearkeeper introduced to you all recently. I am here as Jammy Toast’s new Sports Correspondent with special responsibility for covering Tranmere Rovers. So what better way of starting my new job than popping over and having a word with probably Tranmere’s most famous ever player – John Aldridge, or Aldo to the initiated. On 11th July 1991, The Super White Army bagged a bargain when the Republic of Ireland international swapped the sunny shores of Spain and Real Sociedad for a return to Merseyside, only this time donning a white shirt instead of red from his time at Liverpool. A decade at one club is rare feat in football. However, John Aldridge cemented his name in Tranmere Rovers history through that very accomplishment.
