There is nothing we love more here at Jammy Toast than listening to some of our favourite tunes. From time to time we will post a music video from an artist or genre that we think will be enjoyable to you; our friends. We often feature music that you may not have come across before, or music that maybe you just missed the first time around. Try and listen with an open mind, you never know, you may find something you can add to your iPod. If you have any music videos you would like us to feature then drop us a line – we are always happy to listen to requests but we cannot promise to feature everyone’s favourite

Last Sunday we featured Ray Wilson singing a song he recorded with Genesis and mentioned in passing that he was originally in the band, Stiltskin. The band was formed by multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Peter Lawlor and bassist/keyboardist James Finnigan in 1989. Drummer Ross McFarlane joining the duo shortly thereafter. Many people were auditioned for the role of lead singer but a failure to find a suitable vocalist left the band on hold until 1993, when they came across vocalist Ray Wilson. Ray had been in a road traffic accident and required a lift to make the gig he was performing later that evening. After watching his performance, the band immediately offered him the position of vocalist.

The completed band set to work on the music Lawlor had written for the Levi’s television advertisement. The resulting single, Inside topped the UK Singles Chart in 1994. The Ambrosian Singers performed Lawlor’s choir-like intro vocals to Inside with all instruments played by Peter Lawlor.

Stiltskin originally split up in 1996, during the recording of their uncompleted second album, but reformed in 2005, featuring only Wilson of the original members. They released the album “She” in 2006 and toured Europe during 2006/7. A live album entitled “Stiltskin Live”, recorded on 25th October 2006, with material from this tour, was released in April 2007. In 2008, Stiltskin toured across Europe. A new Stiltskin album called “Unfulfillment” was released in 2011.

This is Stiltskin during the height of their fame with their #1 single, Inside…

  1. Knobhead is having another night at Nanny Auds . Hurrah ! Apparently he’s wrapped round her feet, the fires on and he doesn’t want to come back to us . Might sell the house quick and bugger off ? Case he changes his mind. Hopefully he doesn’t rediscover the taste for human flesh .

  2. Well that was a weekend. Harry Potterland , The worst pub in the world , St Albans , scattering my dads ashes , Spanish breakfast on a waffle , Knobhead gone back to Nanny Auds and my football team won . Phew !

  3. Tigger told Roo about the things that Tiggers could do.
    “Can they fly?” asked Roo.
“Yes,” said Tigger, “they are very good flyers. Strornry good flyers.”
“Oo!” said Roo. “Can they fly as well as Owl?”
“Yes,” said Tigger. “Only they don’t want to.”

  4. I’ve been training young offenders to work at PC World… After a few complaints though, I’ve had to explain to them that the correct phrase is “I’m ringing to arrange an installation”, not “I’m gonna come round and put your fucking Windows in.”
