There is nothing more we love here at Jammy Toast than listening to some of our favourite tunes. From time to time we will post a music video from an artist or genre that we think will be enjoyable to you; our friends. We often feature music that you may not have come across before, or music that maybe you just missed the first time around. Try and listen with an open mind, you never know, you may find something you can add to your iPod. If you have any music videos you would like us to feature then drop us a line – we are always happy to listen to requests but we cannot promise to feature everyone’s favourite…

When we first discovered Chris Isaak here at Jammy Toast, we really only liked Wicked Game and it took a while for some of his other songs to grow on us. The same seems to be the case with many other people. Film director David Lynch gave Wicked Game a new lease of life when his instrumental version of the song was featured in his 1990’s film Wild At Heart. Inspired by the movie, an Atlanta radio program director started featuring the original version on his station and introduced Wicked Game to a mass audience where it literally caught fire. The song peaked at #6 on the singles charts in 1991 and spawned a very popular video.

When it was originally released in 1989, Isaak’s third album Heart Shaped World only spent ten weeks on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and peaked at #149 despite having many standout tracks including Wicked Game and today’s featured… Blue Spanish Sky. However, after the release of Wicked Game as a single, it helped propel the album to sales of more than 2 million copies.

Artists who often complained about the tedium of filming 1980s videos should have taken a tip from Chris Isaak. Just get a smokin’ hot model and have them film you getting all steamy with her on a bed, kiddie pool or beach.

While Blue Spanish Sky never really caught on as a single, it drummed up interest in the album because its classic Chris Isaak with dreamy vocals and haunting guitar…

Don’t forget, if you have any music videos you would like us to feature in the future, drop us a line. We are always happy to listen to requests from others, we cannot promise to feature any but we will try our best to find the videos if we think others will enjoy.

  1. Have a good Monday. Don’t go into work. Do that jigsaw puzzle you were given three Christmases ago. I rang in with sorry I can’t come in today. I had rice krispies for breakfast and when I poured the milk I got an awful fright. The sound of it. Jesus. Or, I bought an avocado last week and I don’t want to miss the ‘ripe’ window. No I can’t bring my avocado to work. Do you have any idea how much those things cost? I coulda bought a fuckin’ house.

Or whatever. You know, it’s your life.
