With only two days to go until the launch of the brand new Jammy Toast Site; instead of looking forward we have been looking backwards. Backwards over the lifetime of this blog and the journey we have taken to get us to this position. It has not been an easy ride with many problems we have had to overcome. Problems not just caused by hosts and their equipment but also from us maybe asking too much from simple hosting plans.

We do have to wonder just what the world is coming to following this latest festive season. If you pick the papers up today you can read all about how two people were stabbed yesterday in the Boxing Day Sales. What appears to be no more than a result of hustle and bustle at the sales has resulted in one man being knifed outside a Foot Locker store in Oxford Street. As if that wasn’t bad enough, a second stabbing happen just a few hours later further along the same street.

We didn’t get the chance to let everyone know prior to the festive season started in earnest but we managed to rescue the Bear we told you about on Christmas Eve. The little guy has made himself at home over Christmas and is currently sitting here watching The Producers on Channel 5 – another telly addict in the making. There was some concern that there was a problem with his nose but this has proven to be groundless. There is nothing wrong with his nose it was just a little fur that was obscuring his nose on his eBay picture.

It has become a Christmas tradition at the Bear Sanctuary that each year we have to watch The Snowman. Every year we like to sit down and enjoy the story by Raymond Briggs but, because it is getting quite old these days, it never seems to feature on the Christmas telly listings. To us, it is the highlight of Christmas and so it would appear it is to others also as the film was voted 4th in UKTV Gold’s Greatest TV Christmas Moments.

The Night Before Christmas is a poem first published anonymously in 1823 and later attributed to Clement Clarke Moore, who claimed authorship in 1837. However, some commentators now believe the poem was written by Henry Livingston. The poem has been called “arguably the best-known verses ever written by an American” and is largely responsible for some of the conceptions of Santa Claus from the mid-nineteenth century to today. It has had a massive impact on the history of Christmas gift-giving. Before the poem gained wide popularity, American ideas had varied considerably about Saint Nicholas and other Christmastide visitors.

Just when we are all settling down ready to start celebrating Christmas there appears more work for us to do. Of course, we are always happy to help any Bear in need and this looks like there is a Bear in serious need of our assistance this Christmas. He is currently stuck in the Post Office’s Sorting Office so we will have to get down there in the morning in a hurry before they close. Unfortunately, we think the Bear needs the attention of our friends at The Doll & Bear Hospital in Liverpool.
