The Duke of Edinburgh celebrates his 94th Birthday today, so we thought it would be a good idea to look back at some of his most famous gaffes from over the years. Philip is renowned for opening his mouth and putting both feet in it on more than one occasion, usually displaying his caustic wit into the bargain. He is expected to mark the day privately at Buckingham Palace with the Queen. Gun salutes will be fired to mark his birthday, though. The Duke of Edinburgh is the longest serving consort in British history and also the oldest serving partner of a reigning monarch. To celebrate his honour, we relive 90 of his classic clangers…
Today we would like to wish Miss Chimpton a happy 48th Birthday. Some say she looks a lot younger than this but that is only because she has spent that long lying about her age that she has managed to turn the clock back on herself. She reached the ripe old age of 39 a few years ago and decided to hold on that age for a few years. The funny thing is, she has lied about her age for so long that she now believes that she is much younger.
Today, everyone here at Jammy Toast would like to wish Ananasty a very happy twenty-first birthday. We have known Ananasty since she was seven years old but during that time we feel certain she has learned many wonderful things. However, the biggest thing she needs to learn is whenever you give Davidd your laptop to fix, make sure you don’t leave any embarrassing videos on it!!
Today, saw the remains of King Richard III return to Leicester ahead of his reburial in Leicester Cathedral. His funeral cortege entered the city at the historic Bow Bridge after touring landmarks in the county. Canons were fired in a salute to the king at Bosworth, where he died in 1485. The coffin is set to reach Leicester Cathedral at 5:35pm where he will be reinterred during a ceremony on Thursday. Here at Jammy Toast we have become fascinated with the story of Richard III since his skeleton was found in an old friary beneath a car park in 2012. So we thought it would be interesting to discover the full story of Richard III…
Scientists who have been analysing the DNA from Richard III’s body, discovered on the former site of Greyfriars Abbey, have thrown up a real surprise – evidence of infidelity in the royal family tree. Studies from the genetic material from remains found in a Leicester car park say the finding might have profound historical implications. Depending on where in the family tree the infidelity occurred, it could cast doubt on the Tudor claim to the English throne or, indeed, on Richard’s or even our current royal family. However, scientists would not be drawn on this as it was still unknown when the break, or breaks, in the lineage occurred.
Normally on Sundays we have our Musical Fun Day. However, this week we felt it was timely to wish someone special a Very Happy Birthday. We don’t normally do birthday wishes because we have quite a few friends and we would get inundated with requests. However, this time it really is for a special occasion. Ananasty is twenty today but unfortunately she is spending the day trapped in a hospital in Manchester miles away from all her friends and family which – as you can imagine – is an absolute bummer.
The bears really have enjoyed this weekend’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations with something happening for everyone. Those who like the pomp and circumstance had the Jubilee barge procession and today’s church service, lunch and carriage procession. For those who prefer things a little wilder; there was last night’s concert at the palace. It was like the Queen had gone out for the night and left Harry at home to have a party – except he made the mistake of putting the party on Facebook and everyone turned up.
The bears today are sitting around the telly to watch the celebrations for The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Despite the fact our bears are of French descent, they are big Royalists and are looking forward to the Thames Pageant today. This weekend will go down in history as Elizabeth II is only the second monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee – the first being her grandmother Queen Victoria.
Today we would like to wish somebody very special a very happy birthday. Today is none other than Miss Chimpton’s birthday. She is getting a little old these days and a tad frayed around the edges, despite all the products she slaps on her aging body. It is difficult to imagine but it is now ten years since I first picked her up from the orphanage where she had stayed since arriving in England from Vietnam. Being one of the original Vietnamese Boat People could not have been easy for her. However, those days are now behind her as she arrives at her thirty-ninth birthday.
