…one of our favourite Alanis Morissette albums is Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie and our favourite song from that album is Thank U. The song was written by Alanis after she returned from India in 1997 and is to express her heartfelt gratitude towards the people she met during her stay. The lyrics, such as “thank you terror” and “thank you frailty”, are to reflect her cynicism and despair about visiting the country being turned into triumph and hope.

The music video for the single features Morissette nude in different streets around New York City. It received positive reviews from music critics along with mild controversy, due to nudity in the video. It was however, nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 2000 Grammy Awards.

Needless to say our love of the song and video have nothing to do with the fact Alanis is nude throughout…
