We recently started a feature on Jammy Toast where we list our heroes and give them the praise we feel they deserve. Following his death yesterday we feel we need to add Muhammad Ali to our list because he had such an incredible impact, not just on everyone here at Jammy Toast, but many millions of people around the world. He was a hero not just to boxing fans but to human beings who were moved by his personality and his fight for civil rights for blacks in America and his fight against the Vietnam war.

Johnny King was Tranmere Rovers’ most successful manager and was always the man to find the right words for any occasion. Our favourite quote of his was; “Tranmere will never be able to compete with Liverpool and Everton. They’re like big liners like the Queen Mary, but I see Tranmere as a Deadly Submarine.” Today, we would like to pay our own tribute to Johnny King and make him the inaugural Bear Hero…

Those of you who have been following Jammy Toast for longer than others will remember we used to have Heroes of The Bears – these were people who the bears thought of as heroes. These people had usually performed acts of great kindness or amazing bravery. We then featured these people on Jammy Toast and held them in great reverence, praising their acts of kindness or bravery. We have decided to bring this feature back and select people again to become Bear Heroes. However, this time we want to do it slightly differently…
