One of Jammy Toast’s favourite Telly stars, Ricky Tomlinson, choked back tears as he paid a heart-breaking tribute to his beloved pal Caroline Aherne. Ricky, who played Caroline’s layabout dad in The Royle Family, was left reeling after cancer claimed the comedy star at the age of just 52 yesterday. He said: “I’m so bloody shocked. She was absolutely wonderful and amazing to work for. Kind, funny, witty. A true professional and one of the most generous people I ever worked with.”

Everyone here at Jammy Toast has been devastated today to learn of the death of Caroline Aherne Denise Royle. The star and writer of The Royle Family and The Mrs Merton Show had suffered from cancer since she was first diagnosed with lung cancer two years ago having earlier being diagnosed with bladder and eye cancer. She was also the narrator of another Jammy Toast favourite, Gogglebox and had previously appeared in The Fast Show.

Frank Sidebottom; Cult comic character and big friend of Jammy Toast, is the inspiration for a new film starring Michael Fassbender – there is also a documentary and biography on the way. Four years after Frank Sidebottom died his legend is growing bigger every day; the giant home-made head, the ridiculous nasal Mancunian voice, the anarchic and absurd humour and not to mention his deliberately naff pop songs. These were all parts of the loveable Frank Sidebottom.

Everyone here at Jammy Toast would like to wish Caroline Aherne Denise Royle a speedy recovery after it has been revealed today that she has had treatment for lung cancer. MacMillan Cancer Research have confirmed that the Royle Family star, who has previously had bladder and eye cancer, would speak at an appeal to improve cancer care in Manchester on 26th June. Caroline Denise said of the appeal; “I’ve had cancer and my brother’s had cancer and we know how it affects people.”
