Pablo Picasso’s Femme Assise, Robe Bleu (Seated Woman in Blue Dress).
A bit of a daft one, today. We were all sitting around Jammy Toast last night watching the news when an item came on which caught our attention. It featured the story of one of Pablo Picasso’s best-known portraits being sold at auction in New York for £35m. Seated Woman in Blue Dress features a portrait of one of Picasso’s many lovers, Dora Maar. The picture has a long history including, during World War Two, the Nazis seized the painting but were intercepted on their way from Paris to Moravia by French Resistance fighters.
