Some of you may remember when I used to produce drawings for us each month and have my own column dedicated to art in general and my pencil drawings in particular. Then I got busy with the artwork for Jammy Toast and my column went by the board. Now, you might be pleased to hear, Davidd has decided to re-introduce my column but with a difference. I used to draw using a set of pencils which were bought for me and I got pretty good at it too – you can see many of my drawings if you click on the Art & Toons > Egginanoo’s Art > Drawings menu above.

Hello and welcome to one of my rather infrequent posts. As always around here everyone is very busy writing posts and things of interest here at Jammy Toast that I never get the chance to post anything these days. I have still been doing my little doodles and every now and then someone likes one of the drawings I have done and nags Davidd into letting me post it. Razzi is the culprit today, although I am not so sure if he likes my drawing or the subject matter. This is a picture Razzi gave me and asked me to draw of the love of his life; Mena Suvari. I was happy to help and so today I thought I would share the drawing with you. Hope you like it…

Hello and welcome to my first column of 2015, I hope you all had a great New Year. This month I thought I would draw some places we will all recognise and because they are both visited so often we tend not to notice them that much. I decided to draw them just in pencil because you tend to see more detail in a single tone drawing than when you use colour. It is not easy capturing tone and light when drawing in a single tone either so it is more demanding than when using colour.

This month I decided to draw some people close to our hearts here at Jammy Toast. Drawing people is usually more difficult than drawing buildings, scenery of still life because it has to actually resemble the person you are drawing. Before now, I have spent a while drawing someone and I am quite pleased with it only for no one being able to recognise the subject. If this happens then it really is a case of “back to the drawing board”.

This month I have spent a great deal of time drawing river scenes and in particular the ferry boats. There really is some great scenery down by the river to use as a background and of course the Mersey Ferries are recognisable all over the world. I have also been using a grey pencil this month as opposed to using colour. This is simply because this is how the mood has taken me. The water, boats and industrial water scenes down by the Mersey I feel show up better in grey than in colour – or maybe that is just me.

Isaid last month that, with my drawings, sometimes I want to draw hundreds of things and there are not enough hours in the day to finish everything I start and other times I just can’t get started. So it has proven this month as I have been drawing everything that moves. It has been difficult to choose which ones to show you all and which ones to maybe leave for another day. If I had my way I would just publish the lot but Edward keeps bending my ear about bandwidth and space on the server; so I am restricted to half-a-dozen a month.

Ihave not been drawing a lot lately which is why I have not posted anything in ages. It is funny with my drawings, sometimes I want to draw hundreds of things and there are not enough hours in the day to finish everything I start and other times I just can’t get started. It is either famine or feast where it comes to my drawings. However, with the encouragement of Edward, I have made a determined effort to finish some drawings for you all to see and to update my Gallery which is looking a little forgotten lately.

To commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the historic World War II “Dambusters” raid on German dams, I thought it would be a great idea to draw the famous Lancaster Bombers dropping a bomb on the dam. The attack on the German dams was carried out on 16–17th May 1943 by Royal Air Force No 617 Squadron, subsequently known as the “Dambusters”, using a specially developed “bouncing bomb” invented and developed by Sir Barnes Wallis. The Möhne and Edersee Dams were breached, causing catastrophic flooding of the Ruhr valley and of villages in the Eder valley, while the Sorpe dam sustained only minor damage. Two hydroelectric powerplants were destroyed and several more were damaged. Factories and mines were also either damaged or destroyed. An estimated 1,600 people drowned.

Everything has been pretty hectic around here this past week with Edward installing our new theme and this has meant I have had a bit more time on my paws than I do normally, so I have had my pencils out. I decided initially to draw some of my favourite singers who have died over the years but then found a great photo of Chuck Berry which I couldn’t resist, even though he is still alive. I decided to draw them just in black and white because sometimes that looks pretty cool and most of these artists were totally hip and some of the coolest dudes ever.
