There is nothing we love more here at Jammy Toast than listening to some of our favourite tunes. From time to time we will post a music video from an artist or genre that we think will be enjoyable to you; our friends. We often feature music that you may not have come across before, or music that maybe you just missed the first time around. Try and listen with an open mind, you never know, you may find something you can add to your iPod. If you have any music videos you would like us to feature then drop us a line – we are always happy to listen to requests but we cannot promise to feature everyone’s favourite…
We awoke this morning to the news that Leonard Cohen – one of our all-time favourite singers, songwriters and poets – had died at the age of 82. The news was announced on his official Facebook page, although no details about the cause of death were given. “It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away,” the statement said. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau led tributes to the singer: “It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of the death of the legendary Leonard Cohen,” Mr Trudeau said in a statement. “He will be fondly remembered for his gruff vocals, his self-deprecating humour and the haunting lyrics that made his songs the perennial favourite of so many generations.”
Back in January 2008, Evad Bear posted a Video he had made on YouTube. The video featured a Leonard Cohen song and was edited using clips from Natural Born Killers. We all really liked his video and it went on to be the most popular video we ever posted on YouTube; receiving over 100,000 viewings.
WARNING: The video featured in this post contains adult themes and content. Please ask Mummy or Daddy before viewing… we do not want to upset anyone or confuse young children by showing them adult content. This means you too Linzi!
Hi, this is Emo Bear here. I watched the film Brother Bear the other day. It is a film about ‘Man The Hunter’ pitted against ‘Bear The Hunter’. In the film, the only way for the two to survive is to become friends and work together. I thought this was a great idea for a video… so I made one. This is footage from the Walt Disney film, ‘Brother Bear’, set to the music of Leonard Cohen’s; ‘There for you’. I hope you like it!
Hello this is Emo again. Boys are really silly, the way Erasmus and Edward have been arguing over who makes the best Videos is just an example of how silly they really are. Everyone knows that girls make the best Videos and to prove it, I have made one. It is a bit of a love song set to Leonard Cohen’s The Letter with footage from the Final Fantasy computer games. They just seem to fit together so well and Leonard’s voice just tells the story.
One of my favourite Leonard Cohen songs is The Future. The song is about sexual deviation and is full of lines about mirrored rooms, torture, control of women, anal sex and references to enhancing sexual performance through drug taking. Not exactly the thing to play when the vicar calls round for a Sunday afternoon cuppa.
