Today we are starting a new feature here at Jammy Toast featuring some of our fans. Some of you may not be aware but the late Sir John Hurt was a great fan of ours and even helped initiate the London Branch of the Jammy Toast Fan Club. As you can see in our featured pictured of John sitting outside our Fan Club in London enjoying a coffee. We are aware some of you might be sceptical that a world famous actor like Sir John would be a fan of ours, but if you look at the picture you will realise that what can’t speak, can’t lie.
It looks like 2017 is taking over where 2016 left off regarding celebrity departures following the death of Bafta-winning/Oscar nominated actor Sir John Hurt, at the age of 77. Known for his roles in Alien and The Elephant Man, he had been being treated for pancreatic cancer for the last couple of years. His wife, Anwen, said he had brought “joy and magic” and it would be a “strange world without him”. Despite being given the all-clear from cancer, he last year pulled out of Sir Kenneth Branagh’s production of The Entertainer on the advice of his doctors. Lady Hurt confirmed Sir John had died on Wednesday at his home in Norfolk. “John was the most sublime of actors and the most gentlemanly of gentlemen with the greatest of hearts and the most generosity of spirit,” she said in a statement.
