The sister of polar bear Knut, who captured the heart of the world after he was hand reared by Thomas Doerflein, has made her first public appearance. Anori has the same father as Knut but a different mother called Vilma. She is one of two cubs born in January but one died a week later. Small, fluffy and cute, she wandered out into a small outdoor enclosure with her mother for the first time to meet her expectant audience.
Today we would like to wish somebody very special a very happy birthday. Today is none other than Miss Chimpton’s birthday. She is getting a little old these days and a tad frayed around the edges, despite all the products she slaps on her aging body. It is difficult to imagine but it is now ten years since I first picked her up from the orphanage where she had stayed since arriving in England from Vietnam. Being one of the original Vietnamese Boat People could not have been easy for her. However, those days are now behind her as she arrives at her thirty-ninth birthday.
We are quite pleased with our blog design at the moment. It has been a long and difficult task to end up with a design that is pleasing on the eye and yet complete with all the functionality we demanded. It was also important we had shortcodes that made it easy for us to quickly create posts and pages without having to resort to mountains of HTML every time we wanted to achieve a particular effect. However, now we are pleased with it the complaints are starting to role in.
We don’t usually get involved with politics on the blog as both the bears and I know that one Politian is as bad as the next. They all are in politics for what they can get out of it and very few are there for the better of the country. Usually everything they say is aimed at not upsetting any voters which usually means they will not take sides with anyone for fear of upsetting the other side. How the country gets by like this is beyond me. However, as soon as we thought things couldn’t get any worse, along come the latest crop of conservatives.
When the bears and I go on our holidays there is one part of the holiday we do not like. After years of watching the fascinating documentary series Plane Crash Investigation, we hate the plane journey. Razzi and I usually sit there and every time we hit a bit of turbulence we look at each other and immediately remember some incident from the series where a plane has crashed. On one of our holidays to Portugal, the pilot forgot to tell us he was beginning his descent into the airport and we nearly wet ourselves – much to Miss Chimpton’s amusement. However, even Razzi and I could not imagine what appears to have happened on an American flight yesterday.
We are pleased to announce the arrival of our latest friend here at the bear sanctuary. As is usual in these cases very little is known about Ediz’s history and the few facts we have been told are wrong. According to Mr Knapp, who has sent us the bear, he has been a guest in his house since the 1980s where he has remained unused, and unloved, from new. However, this must be false because Renault didn’t start giving these bears away until the late 1990s; usually with a Renault Clio.
We have been getting a few positive comments over the past week, concerning Egginanoo’s newly found artistic skills. She has been helping Edward with the artwork on the blog for some time but this past week we have been using her drawings as post headers. Most of you seem to really like the results. Egginanoo has a great eye for detail and her drawings really do work well within our current theme.
