We didn’t post anything last night because we got in late and wanted to watch the England against San Marino match. The San Marino national team represents the second smallest population of any UEFA member and are currently bottom of the FIFA World Rankings. Since making their competitive debut, San Marino have competed in qualifying for every European Championships and World Cup, but have never won a match in either competition. They have only ever won one game, beating Liechtenstein 1–0 in a friendly match on 24 April 2004. However, despite being the world’s football whipping boys their sportsmanship is second to none. England won the match 5-0 and never even looking like giving away a corner, let alone a goal. Yet the San Marino players carried on playing and never stopped trying right up until the final whistle.
