Back in the 1970s, it was the dessert that any self-respecting mum gave to their sugar-craving kids and now Angel Delight is making a big comeback. Half-a-century after the whipped desert first hit the shelves, sales are up by nearly a third over the last six months. According to Premier Foods, consumers are being tempted back by a new ready-to-eat version of the retro milky dessert, first launched in 1967 by Birds. In its traditional form, which is still available, consumers whisk milk into the Angel Delight powder, which comes in strawberry, chocolate, banana and butterscotch flavours. The range now also includes “no added sugar” alternatives in the same flavours.
