Paul Smith – the comedian who Andreaa introduced us to on her Comedy Column – is poised for the biggest gig of his career, the 11,000 seater main hall of the Echo Arena. It’s all happened without the usual fanfare of promotion, PR campaigns and headline slots at the Edinburgh Fringe. In fact, there’s just one thing the 36-year-old from Cantril Farm attributes to his phenomenal success. “It’s the marketing team at Hot Water Comedy,” he said. “They’re just phenomenal. The owners there are genius. I’ve been hosting there for coming up 10 years and one day, they set up cameras in there to film me and these videos seem to have taken off and been embraced around the country.”
