Putting Things Into Perspective

Here is something fascinating that will fry your milk chocolate buttons for you. The Voyager 1 spaceship left earth over forty years ago now and in that time it has travelled approximately 20 light hours. This means that it will take a spaceship built by man roughly fifty years to travel the same distance as light travels in a day. Those little facts just go to demonstrate exactly how big this universe of ours is and just how long it would take us to actually get anywhere. So today, I am going to give you something that will not only fry your milk chocolate buttons but probably fry your brain too if you try and get your head around the following…

Here’s Johnny scene from The Shinning.

Here at Jammy Toast we usually celebrate Halloween by watching horror films. Last night we watched The Ring, which we had never seen before, and if there is nothing else on tonight we might even watch the second Ring film… sorry Razzi. But probably our favourite horror film is The Shining taken from Stephen King’s iconic book. The terrifying novel follows the story of writer Jack Torrance, his wife Wendy and their son Danny who has psychic abilities, who move to the isolated Overlook Hotel when Jack becomes its winter caretaker. As Jack suffers from writer’s block and Danny’s visions become increasingly terrifying, the creepy Overlook Hotel takes hold and turns Jack into a homicidal maniac. While the Overlook Hotel is fictional, the setting which inspired Stephen King to write the novel isn’t.

Today, we continue our series of posts featuring our favourite films. There is nothing the bears love more than settling around the telly to watch one of our favourite films. Here at Jammy Toast, some of those films have been watched over and over and we would like nothing better than sharing them with you. Our tastes are many and varied as we enjoy films from some of our favourite directors and actors, some of whom we just love everything they do. So today, we continue our tour of some of our favourite movies of all time with Event Horizon.

There is nothing we love more here at Jammy Toast than listening to some of our favourite tunes. From time to time we will post a music video from an artist or genre that we think will be enjoyable to you; our friends. We often feature music that you may not have come across before, or music that maybe you just missed the first time around. Try and listen with an open mind, you never know, you may find something you can add to your iPod. If you have any music videos you would like us to feature then drop us a line – we are always happy to listen to requests but we cannot promise to feature everyone’s favourite

The Further Adventures Of Mr Benn #2

Previously on Jammy Toast, we have featured The Adventures of Mr Benn which were originally written by David McKee. We changed them slightly making them from the first person’s point of view – as though Mr Benn had written the stories himself – instead of third person as the original books were written. The Red Knight was the original story which was written in 1967. After publication, the BBC commissioned David to write a series for TV. David wrote thirteen Mr Benn stories, comprising of The Red Knight and twelve new stories. David also wrote a story featuring Mr Benn in prison where he meets his friend Smasher Lagru. This story was considered far too controversial for children’s TV and so was never made for television. In 2001, David wrote an additional story, The Gladiator, which has not yet been made for television. These stories featured here on Jammy Toast are additional stories written by ourselves but featuring the same characters created by David McKee. We would like these stories to be considered as a homage to the original character of Mr Benn

Talking Shit #178

Today we are going to ask everyone who visits Jammy Toast to just “Talk Shit” for the day. We ask that anyone who visits Jammy Toast leaves a comment on just about any subject they choose. Funny or sad, true or false, real or fake; we don’t give a shit as long as it is entertaining and doesn’t really hurt anyone. We ask you to do this because we are too busy to think of anything else to post – hopefully everyone will like the freedom to whine and bitch. The rules are pretty simple to explain – basically, anything goes!
