500th Dancing Bear Rescued In India

Last month, just over 6 years since they started, Wildlife SOS rescued the 500th Sloth Bear. Chitra, the 12 year old Sloth Bear, was relinquished to Wildlife SOS in Bangalore on Friday by her Kalandar owner. After spending several painful years performing for tourists and rural audiences, Chitra will now spend the remainder of her retired life at the forested Bannerghatta Bear Rescue Center, where she will be well cared for, surrounded by friends, and well loved. Her former owner will receive a rehabilitation package to encourage him to start a new business to support his family and not try to capture another Bear.

Berlin’s Zoo May Lose Knut

The future for Germany’s celebrity polar bear Knut is turning icy because Berlin may lose him. Knut’s father came from Neumuenster Zoo, which is still entitled to Knut under a contract with Berlin Zoo. Fans of Knut, who has proven a big money-spinner for Berlin Zoo, are urging the zoo director to keep him in the capital, German media have reported.

Bear Ends Up In Museum

A wild bear which touched the hearts of Germans by dodging hunters for weeks has gone on display in a Munich museum. Bruno was the first bear to be spotted in the wild in Germany for 170 years but was finally shot dead in June 2006. The bear is displayed being disturbed while stealing honey from bee hives to show his potential danger. Taxidermist Dieter Schoen, who spent 1,400 hours stuffing the bear, said the display was “supposed to show Bruno neither as beast nor teddy bear”.

I hope your all having fun and frolics of a weekend, okay so I’m not but I can live through you lot can’t I?. Anyhow I thought it was about time I introduced you all to the new member of the Royal family, and no its not a teddy bear although she is cute and cuddly. I proudly introduce to you all, the lovely Tia. Tia is the cutest little dog I have ever met, she jumps like a kangaroo and is just so sweet, she belongs to my sis and is just a lovely little thing that I thought I should come show you all.
