This month I have spent a great deal of time drawing river scenes and in particular the ferry boats. There really is some great scenery down by the river to use as a background and of course the Mersey Ferries are recognisable all over the world. I have also been using a grey pencil this month as opposed to using colour. This is simply because this is how the mood has taken me. The water, boats and industrial water scenes down by the Mersey I feel show up better in grey than in colour – or maybe that is just me.

The first one I drew for this month’s gallery is of the Ferry at Dusk. It was not really at dusk it was just on a gloomy day as the sun started to shine through the clouds and it silhouetted the couple standing near the railings on the ferry brilliantly. It was really just a matter of being in the right place at the right time to capture a photograph of the scene which I then drew when we got home. The background is of Cammell Laird’s shipyard which, along with the bench in the foreground, add dimension to the drawing.

The other drawings I did this month were of ferry boats themselves and the landing stage walkway. The Mountwood looks as though it is lost in the drizzle and rain of the day which is another effect of drawing in grey scales. The Royal Daffodil is seen berthed near the Duke Street Bridge which seems to be their home these days.

I hope you like this month’s offerings, either way leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Have a great month!

Egginanoo Bear

I am the artistic bear here at Jammy Toast. I arrived at the Bear Sanctuary in a cardboard box which was too small for me, which wasn't a very nice way to arrive. I have an eye for art and so they made me responsible for the artwork and design here at Jammy Toast. I am also a girlie so they make me right about female issues too…

  1. Can’t wait to get home! Gunna snuggle up on the couch infront of the fire, light some candles and incense sticks & watch a christmas film to get me in the mood! ♥

  2. After an eventful first day in my new job I’m fed, bathed and tucked up in bed by 10:30! I have a feeling this might be my life for the foreseeable future! – Im exhausted!
