There is nothing we love more here at Jammy Toast than listening to some of our favourite tunes. From time to time we will post a music video from an artist or genre that we think will be enjoyable to you; our friends. We often feature music that you may not have come across before, or music that maybe you just missed the first time around. Try and listen with an open mind, you never know, you may find something you can add to your iPod. If you have any music videos you would like us to feature then drop us a line – we are always happy to listen to requests but we cannot promise to feature everyone’s favourite

Around fifteen years ago, my ex-wife and I were starting down the road of splitting up and getting a divorce. Nothing nasty, we just both realised that now the kids were all grown up we had nothing left in common. She was a very sensible person with a career while, as most of you know, I am the biggest kid around. I wouldn’t say it was anybody’s fault, we just drifted apart. We decided to go to Orlando that year on holiday which – overall – was a mistake. Chimpton and I are very similar and will laugh and take the piss out of anything which the ex-wife didn’t always appreciate. She spent the whole holiday moaning about the music we liked, the radio station we listened to, where we went, what we did and anything else she could think of to complain about.

Chimpton and I wanted to visit Miami and in particular South Beach. It was a four-hour drive and so the ex-wife didn’t want to go but didn’t want us to go either. So, one day, just to prove how childish we were, Chimpton and I snuck out of the hotel and drove to South Beach listening to the radio station that the ex-wife had complained about every time we got in the car.

We were free for the day.

When we got to South Beach, we discovered that the road that ran alongside the beach was called Ocean Drive. Chimpton and I both loved the Lighthouse Family and Ocean Drive was one of our favourite songs. We both enjoyed the most peaceful, enjoyable day of the holiday – even if Chimpton did insist on lathering sun-tan cream all over my face!

And he took your love for granted and he left you high and dry
You know someday, you’ll wonder what you see in him anyway
When that day arrives, we’ll live on Ocean Drive

Unfortunately, the song was written by keyboard player Paul Tucker about the drive from Roker Pier, Sunderland to Ocean Road, South Shields and has nothing to do with Miami; but why let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Chimpton and I never did live on either Ocean Drive but this song still reminds me of that day.

Enjoy…

Don’t forget, if you have any music videos you would like us to feature in the future, drop us a line. We are always happy to listen to requests from others, we cannot promise to feature any but we will try our best to find the videos if we think others will enjoy.

  1. We had such a great day. We even stopped at burger king because obviously vegan bk was delicious. Didn’t even notice the fact that it was 8hr round trip. Bloody loved that day, I didn’t love the weirdo bar woman in the hotel who kept going on how I should be married and how odd I was for being on holiday with my parents. Needless to say I said something sarcastic about her weight and never returned!!

  2. Just thought I’d nip over to my Nan’s, and fair play to her, at 96, she had all the Halloween decorations up, cobwebs and insects in the windows and a skeleton on the couch…

She always makes a big effort, but there was no answer. I’ll pop back next year!

  3. Every now and then I’ll remember the time my mate thought google maps was live and was like “My ex’s car is in the drive the little rat. Why’s he ignoring my phone calls?”

  4. I met Frank Bough when I was a young reporter. He was kind, helpful and generous with his time. His brilliant career was blighted by scandal but I hope people will remember how fine a broadcaster he was. One of the very best in the business.

  5. why do people get involved in twitter “arguments” between reality tv stars & celebs. its not real & theyre not going to go “wow susan lets be mates & go for lunch next week hun.”

  6. Red Fred was in a bit of a grumpy mood when I went to visit him yesterday. I didn’t want any trouble so I thought it would be best to turn my head away. He understood and went back to his shed. I wonder why he was grumpy?

  7. Rolf report 26 Oct

Does my American human (AH) overindulge me? Yes says my English human (EH). When my AH gives me food like chopped chicken, he heats it up so that it’s at blood temperature. He thinks I prefer food at the temperature of the live food I’d get in the wild.

  8. Pooh scrambled up as quickly as he could. “Did I fall on you, Piglet?”
    “You fell on me.”
“I didn’t mean to,” said Pooh sorrowfully.
“I didn’t mean to be underneath,” said Piglet sadly. “But I’m all right now, Pooh, and I am so glad it was you.”

  9. Good morning all – this mornings good morning greetings are brought to you from the “Other Window” as signage on the other window that is not this window directed me to use this window. Wishing you a Happy Monday & a great week!

  10. Instead of the clocks changing at 2am on a Sunday morning they should change at 8am on a Monday morning so people get an extra hour in bed when they need it most.

  11. What I don’t understand with #FreeSchoolMeals is if the government have identified families that can’t afford to feed their kids during term time – how do they miraculously afford to feed them in the school holidays?

  12. I have decided to start playing golf again. I haven’t hit a ball for two years, which means when I tee up for the first time again next week, it’ll probably take me two years to hit it.

  13. Of course star signs are a load of shit but a Scorpio would still kill all the other ones it’s a Scorpion riding a Phoenix do you realise how sick that is? Stick your little crabs and livestock up ya arse.

  14. It’s been really nice to see small privately owned cafes, chippys & pubs etc offering free food & breakfasts for £1 Etc to local kids during the last couple of days!

JD Wetherspoons has 900+ pubs & rec’d £48M government bailout in June

    What have they done?
