Jammy Toast woke up this morning to the fateful news of the death of probably our favourite movie composer, Ennio Morricone. The Italian composer was responsible for “spaghetti” Westerns that turned Clint Eastwood into a star. According to Italian news agency Ansa, he died in hospital having fractured his femur in a fall some days ago. The prolific composer also wrote music for Once Upon a Time in America, The Untouchables and Cinema Paradiso. Having received an honorary Oscar in 2007, he went on to win one in 2016 for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. He was simply known as “Maestro” in his home town of Rome. He scored more than 500 films over seven decades.

Usually on Sundays Eric picks a musical video for you all to enjoy but he is a fan of pop/rock music. We have never had any classical music featured amongst his Bear Music selections. So I have begged Davidd until I am blue red in the face to be able to pick some classical music. Now before you all go running for the hills, I am not talking about heavy-weight classical music. You know that I usually cover films here on Jammy Toast and that is where I have picked up my love of classical style music. More Ennio Morricone than Beethoven. So now and again, when I can bully my way onto Jammy Toast, I will select some classical music and ask you to give it a whirl. You never know you might even like it
